Superintendents, Curriculum Coordinators, Principals, Federal Programs Directors, Special Education Directors, and District Test Coordinators:
In an effort to provide more direct support to districts and schools, the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) through the Office of Professional Development is pleased to announce the regional service delivery model. Through a partnership with the University of Mississippi, the MDE has hired 15 professional development coordinators to deliver on-demand training in the areas of English learners, language arts, literacy, mathematics, science, and special education.
Below are documents with detailed information about how to request professional development from the Menu of Services through the MDE and an assigned Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA). A professional development coordinator will deliver the requested training at no cost to the district. However, there are parameters for requesting this type of training.
Please carefully note the following attachments:
1. LEA Parameters for Professional Development Requests
2. Professional Development Request Form (Face-to-Face, Online, and Follow-up Support Service Trainings)
3. List of School Districts by RESA
4. Professional Development Coordinators Menu of Services
If you have any questions about the model, contact Wendy Clemons, Director, Office of Professional Development, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 601.359.2869.
We hope that you will take advantage of this no cost professional development support service. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the students and the teachers in Mississippi!
